On Friday 13th March, House of PMO hosted a highly engaging webinar to introduce a new training course: Practical AI Skills for the PMO.
The session was presented by Mike Weston-Burt, who explored a question many PMO teams are now facing: “Your organisation has told you to start using AI… now what?”
The webinar attracted a strong response with a high number of registrations, active participation during the session, and lively discussion in the Q&A. It reflected a growing demand across the PMO community for practical guidance on how to use AI in day-to-day PMO work.
Webinar Highlights
AI in the PMO: Opportunity, Not Replacement
One of the key themes from the session addressed concerns about AI replacing jobs. Mike explained that the real advantage will go to professionals who know how to use AI effectively. By helping with repetitive tasks such as summarising reports, analysing risks and preparing updates, AI allows PMO professionals to spend more time on leadership, stakeholder engagement and decision support.
Getting Better Results with Prompt Engineering
Another highlight of the webinar was the introduction to prompt engineering. Attendees saw how clear prompts, structured requests and refining questions can significantly improve the quality of responses from tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini.
Demonstrations and Q&A
The session included demonstrations showing how AI tools can support common PMO activities, along with a live Q&A where attendees explored practical scenarios and concerns.

New Course Launch: Practical AI Skills for the PMO
During the webinar, PMO Learning from House of PMO officially launched a new two-day training course: Practical AI Skills for the PMO.
This is the first new course introduced since PMO Learning became part of the House of PMO portfolio. The course is designed to help PMO professionals apply AI safely, effectively, and credibly across the PMO lifecycle.
The two day course is designed to help PMO professionals understand how AI can support their work in practical ways. Participants learn how to use AI tools to support reporting, analyse risks and issues, generate insights from project data and improve decision support while maintaining appropriate governance and control. The course also introduces techniques such as prompt design and practical ways of working with tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini so learners can start applying AI confidently within their PMO.
Course Outline
The course is structured around four key areas that help learners understand both the foundations of AI and how it can be applied across the PMO lifecycle.
AI Foundations and PMO Fundamentals
Participants begin by exploring what AI is and how it applies to the PMO environment. This includes understanding large language models, copilots and agents, along with guidance on safe and ethical use of AI tools.
AI Across the PMO Lifecycle
Learners examine how AI can support core PMO services such as governance and assurance reviews, portfolio reporting, metrics and insights, risk and issue analysis and demand or resource management.
AI for Project Delivery
This section focuses on how AI can assist with project level activities including planning and scheduling, meeting documentation, status reporting and maintaining consistent RAG assessments across projects.
Practical Use Cases and Application
The course concludes with hands on use cases including developing dashboards and KPIs, supporting benefits realisation, exploring decision options and experimenting with AI using real PMO artefacts in an open lab environment.
Upcoming Pilot Course
The first pilot delivery of Practical AI Skills for the PMO will take place on 14th to 15th May and will be delivered as a virtual classroom course.
The course runs over two days, with sessions taking place from 9am to 4:30pm UK time each day.
The pilot price is £950 + VAT, while the standard virtual classroom price is £1175 + VAT.
House of PMO members receive an exclusive £250 discount, which can be applied by logging into their House of PMO account when booking.
To ensure the course remains practical and interactive, places are limited to 12 participants.
